About Living On The Edge
“A Warrior must include the unexpected in his decisions. This means that a warrior lives on the edge. “ ~ Toltec Aphorism
“Savoured in full awareness, the warrior’s life is never empty or boring, but instead filled with a never-ending sequence of wondrous events, each leading him into a new adventure, a new challenge. Each new challenge is for him a breath-taking experience, because in living on the very edge of life the warrior acknowledges the fine line between annihilation and survival. For the average man, living on the edge is tantamount to having to endure a devastating nightmare; for the warrior it is a chance he embraces gladly, because living on the edge is for him an expression of his deep appreciation and respect for life.” ~ Théun Mares, Toltec Nagal
Anastasia, a Russian mystic living alone in the Siberian forests, has a Dream of Mankind’s return to Paradise — one garden at a time. Her Vision for combating poverty, crime, environmental degradation, and for transforming the loveless, bleak existence that we slaves of debt call “life” is this: change the laws in your nation to provide each and every family with its own Kin’s Domain of approximately 3 acres to garden sustainably, for which no “ransom” is required to obtain it, and which can never be taken away for such infractions as non-payment of property taxes.
When I first heard this idea I was astounded at the depth of my own “poverty mentality” such that I had never dared even to imagine that I might have a space to truly call Home that belonged to my family in perpetuity. My thoughts seldom ventured to how I could nurture such a Space of Love, how I could learn to commune with Nature — and thereby with God (for Nature is but the expression of the Mind of God) — where my family and my children’s families can thrive in joy and contentment down through the ages. Instead my thoughts and emotions are caught up with the endless trauma-dramas of “modern life”. If I never dare to Dream of this blissful state of being, how can I ever hope to cooperatively work with others to co-create this Vision?
Anastasia’s Dream and Vision are just beginning to catch on in the United States. In her native Russia, Anastasia’s books, published through Vladimir Megré and the Ringing Cedars Press, are fueling a social revolution that is sweeping the country. Her simple, yet subversive advice — to establish neighborhoods where people can create their own Kin’s Domains in perpetuity — is the best hedge against the looming challenges of Peak Oil and the resulting global environmental and financial crises and a way to begin to establish a truly viable alternative way of life.
Captivated by Anastasia’s Vision and inspired by the ancient Toltec Wisdom, my craftsman husband, Bob, and I have embarked on the adventure of a lifetime and the only path with heart for us: establishing a neighborhood of Kin’s Domains. We feel as if we are standing on the precarious edge of a cliff that drops a thousand feet below to a swiftly flowing river. Yet as long as we carefully maintain balance, we can enjoy the beauty all around, the wonder of exploration and the honor of a life well lived.
Curious about what it’s like to undertake such a drastic change in lifestyle? Wondering about the sustainable methods, permaculture and other green technologies we plan to use? Skeptical about how a 58 year-old wife and 64 year-old husband can pull off this stunt after having lived amidst the modern, technocratic world much of our lives? Well hey, so are we!
